Sports Zone

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment yesterday. The staff are pleasant and helpful and help me find everything I needed. This business has been around a long time so they must be doing something right and keeping customers happy for sure. I shopped here over 15 years ago for all my daughters figure skating needs, and now 15 years later I’m back shopping at the same place for my grand kids because they treat people well and will help you find what you need.

Not a great experience. Today we went in to look for replacement skates for my daughter and found a suitable pair. The store was quite busy and it was apparent that they were having a black Friday event. When we got to the cash the representative scanned them and the price came up as $76.99. She then asked for our phone number and proceeded to look for us in their system with no prevail-despite us having taken her current skates for sharpening there multiple times. She then proceeded to tell me that because we aren't on file we have to pay full retail price of $109.99? With the line of people stacking up behind us, I really had no choice but to go ahead with the purchase. She happily took the extra money and as I tapped my Visa, she turned to my daughter and said "You look tired" and poked her in the head. Maybe she needs to reconsider her career because she obviously has no concept of customer service.

I negotiated price on used cars, used books, bikes, but the guy in charge at this shop got angry (and kinda rude) at me for doing that on used skates, oh am sorry for trying to survive in this economy with crazy inflation, I would have accepted a simple no and went ahead with the deal, you guys didn’t have to blame or scold me for trying to negotiate, it is not a crime to ask and I asked nicely. I treated you with respect and I expect the same from you. And the lady at the counter forgot to remove the tag with the sensor chip after we paid, when we tried to walk out, the alarm went off, can you guess what is their first reaction ?? Yeah.. the lady pointed finger at my daughter and accused her of taking something :( It hurt, but I didn’t make a scene and politely pointed out the fact, removed the tag and left with my daughter, because I am a civilized person. Probably this is the price for an Asian guy to pay for venturing into a hockey gears shop, you know what the way say, hockey is white man’s sport… Oh and finally, sorry for visiting your shop, I didn’t know I wasn’t welcome.

My sister and I were looking for figure skates and we have never been skating. We were just coming in to browse. Brooklyn and Megan were very knowledgeable and helpful. They answered all our questions and knew a lot about the products and sizing. We were very indecisive but they took the time to help us and were very patient!! I will refer all my friends who need skates here. Lovely experience, thank you!
